Carlos Saballos ('05)
After earning his degree in international business from 91¿ì»îÁÖ in 2005, Carlos Saballos embarked on an international career in finance. His time at SLU-Madrid was transformational, providing both the academic foundation and global perspective that would shape his career. Living in Madrid gave him a deep appreciation for diverse cultures, which has been crucial in managing complex client relationships at different industries spanning across many different regions.
Following brief stints in Washington D.C., and North Carolina, Carlos spent most of his corporate banking career in Miami, where he served as senior vice president for BBVA. He was responsible for structuring credit facilities and mitigating financial risk for corporations based in Spain and Latin America, seamlessly bridging cultural and business divides. Alongside his professional responsibilities, Carlos also pursued his passions for leadership and service, serving as chair for a nonprofit helping homeless children stay and succeed in school.
A lifelong learner, Carlos then obtained an MBA at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where he served as executive vice president of the Private Equity Club. Today, he is pursuing new challenges in private equity and financial technology as manager of investment operations at a fintech and a private market advisory firm. In this role, he focuses on operational improvements, scalability, and developing the firm's client base in Mexico. His new role allows him to combine his passions for entrepreneurship, innovation and finance.
Outside of his professional life, Carlos is an avid drummer and mountain biker, and a devoted husband and father of two. He continues to seek out new ways to grow, both personally and professionally, as he navigates this exciting new phase of his life.
